What are Templates?

Templates are tools that give you a starting point for creating new pages. By using the DePauw template, you will create navigation and formatting for your pages that are consistent with the university web presence.

Why should we care about the template?

We strongly encourage all official university sites to use these templates. Not only will the consistency and familiarity of the template enhance the user experience for visitors. -- It allows the Webteam to perform routine maintenance and to provide support for you. If we know the structure of your site (because it's based on the template) we're much more likely to be able to help when problems arise. Sites in custom designs are much harder to troubleshoot. Therefore, the webteam may not always be able to offer the same support for authors of those sites.
