How can I get into Contribute and start editing?
Starting Contribute

Click on (emailed) connection key (After you have connected for the first time, Contribute remembers your connection.) Click on the horizontal menu Edit Page button to edit the home page
OR navigate to a subordinate page and click the Edit Page button.
What parts of the page can I update?
- Left Navigation
- Content
- Sidebar
- Footer

Updating Left Navigation
Click on "Choose". Navigation to the _includes folder and open it. Open navigation.asp and click on the "Edit Page" button to begin updating.(Note: navigation.asp will appear to lack formatting. This is not a problem.)

Modifying an existing paragraph —
To modify text, highlight the text you wish to change and type over it.
Adding a link —
- Highlight the appropriate text, right-click and select “insert-link.”
- Click “advanced” and fill in the “HREF” box.
Tip: For the sake of accuracy, open a web browser, browse to the page you want to link to, copy the URL from the browser’s address box, and paste into the HREF box in contribute.
Updating the Sidebar
- Update existing: Highlight and type over text.
- Delete: Click in the sidebar, highlight text to delete and backspace to move the subsequent text up to fill the gap.
- Add: Click where you want to add text, press enter, and type in the new text.
Inserting a Heading
- 1. At the end of an existing paragraph, pressed enter. (This inserts vertical space.)
- 2. From the style menu, click on Heading 2.
- 3. Type the desired header text.
- 4. Highlight the text.
- 5. From the style menu, click on HLeft. (This results in the red underline.)
- 6. From the style menu, select Normal.
- 7. Type in your paragraph content.

Adding a New Page
- From the Horizonal Menu or the File Menu, Click on New Page. 2. Under the “Templates” folder, click on the starter page that is most similar to the page you need to create.
- Enter a Page Title in the box on the lower right.
- Click Ok to create a new page draft.
- Edit the draft in the usual manner.
- Click on the Publish button. You will see a warning message about publishing a page without creating a link to it. Click Yes.
- In the Publish New Page box, type in a short name that indicates something about the content. (Existing examples of page names are liberarts.asp and request-info.asp.)
Important:
-- Do not include spaces or punctuation other than “-“
-- Be sure to end the name with “.asp”
- Click on Choose Folder… and browse to the folder that contains related content.
Example: To choose the events folder, which is inside of the visit folder browse visit and open events. A button appears labeled Select “events”. Click on that button.
- Now review the web address that appears in the Publish New Page. If it is correct, click the Publish button.
- Don’t forget: In order for your new page to be available to visitors, you must create a link to it from an existing page. Navigate to the appropriate related page and create a link to the new page.
Note: If, after publishing a new page, you wish to delete it, let us know and we will delete it.
Publishing Your Draft
- Click on PUBLISH. You will be warned that you must create a link from an existing in order for visitors to find the page, and prompted: Do you want to publish the page without creating a link? It is fine to say yes, publish the page, and create a link afterward.
- Create a link to your new page from the main content area of an existing page.
Roll Back to an Earlier Version
By clicking the Cancel button, you can cancel a draft if you don’t want to publish it; but even after you have updated and published a page, you can go back to a previous version:
- Navigate to the page that you wish to replace.
- From the top horizontal menu, Click on File.
- Click on Actions.
- In the Roll Back Page list, click on the version you wish to revert to. (Typically this will be the most recent.)
- Scroll through the preview area to verify that this is the version you want.
- Click on the Roll Back button.
