Style Menu

FREQUENTLY USED STYLES: HeadingExternalLinkPDFLinkPhotodataTable

When editing a document in Contribute, these styles are available from a dropdown menu that can be accessed in either of two ways:
- Right click ->style
- Scrollable list just below the "Publish" button
Some styles can be used anywhere in the document, others only in specific sections. (Section labels are displayed in small turquoise tabs.)

Headings

Heading 1 is used only in the Banner area. It produces large, white capital letters.

Heading 2 is used in for the page title at the top of the Content area.

Headings 3 and 4 are smaller and may be used at the web author's discretion.


ExternalLink

External link is used to indicate that a link targets a page outside of the Admission site.

1. Highlight the link.
2. From the style menu, click on ExternalLink. This change is not apparent in Contribute Editing mode.
3. To see the results, from the file menu, click on Preview in Browser.


PDFLink

PDFLink is used to indicate that a link targets a PDF file.

1. Highlight the link.
2. From the style menu, click on PDFLink. This change is not apparent in Contribute Editing mode.
3. To see the results, from the file menu, click on Preview in Browser.


Photo Placement

PhotoCenter, PhotoLeft, and PhotoRight are used within the Content section to position images and apply formatting. PhotoLeft places the image on the left side and allows text to flow around it. PhotoRight serves the same function, but places the image on the right.

PhotoCenterNoBorder, PhotoLeftNoBorder, and PhotoRightNoBorder work the same way, display the image without a border.

Note: Prepare your image in FireFox by cropping and adjusting the size. Although there is a size adjustment option in Contribute, its use should be avoided.

Using the "Photo" styles

1. Click where you want to place the image.
2. From the top horizontal menu, click insert.
3. From the insert menu, select Image and click on From My Computer.
4. Right-click on the image and select ‘image properties’ from the resulting menu.
5. In the image properties box, change the “Description (Alt-text).”
6. Click just outside the image. A dark blue border appears around the image.
7. From the style menu, click on PhotoCenter, PhotoLeft, or PhotoRight.


dataTable

1. Create a table as follows:
Table -> Insert -> Table
2. Now, mouseover the upper left corner of the table and click to select the table.
3. From the style menu, select dataTable.

PhotoCenterNoBorder, PhotoLeftNoBorder, and PhotoRightNoBorder work the same way, display the image without a border.
