Site Setup

Before you can define your Dreamweaver site for use with the new DePauw Template, the web team must give you a new type of access. Please contact contact the webteam (webteam@depauw.edu), even if you already have an FTP account.

Note: The screen shots for this tutorial were make on a mac.
Actual screens will vary on a PC but the instructions are the same.
Step One

Please make sure you have Dreamweaver installed before you start this Tutorial.

Step Two

Create a New Dreamweaver Site

Open Dreamweaver and from the top horizontal menu select "Site" then "New Site..."

This will bring up a dialog box that looks like the picture below.
Select the Advanced tab located a the top of the dialog box.

Set up Local Site Information

Settings for Local Info Category

Site Name: DePauw Website
Local root folder: Click on the (folder icon), go to your local drive (probably U: or C:) and create a new folder.
Links relative to: Site Root
HTTP address: http://www.depauw.edu/

Setup Remote Info

Settings for the Remote Info Category

Contact the webteam for FTP access to the new template. (Top of page)

Access: FTP
FTP host: www.depauw.edu
Host directory (required): See previous email or contact the web team.
Login: Your Login to the FTP server
Password: Your Password to the FTP server

Press the Test button to make sure your FTP account is working properly

Remove Design Notes

Make sure to Uncheck the Box to Maintain Design Notes

Setup Template Updating

Settings for Templates Category
Have you applied the 8.0.2 upgrade? (See Step One.) Earlier versions of Dreamweaver do not include this option.

Make sure to Check the Box to Template Updating

Step Seven

Finish Site Setup

Press OK and you're Done

Next you'll need to get the template files.
