The Safest Way

FTP iconTo upload a page to the web server, start with the page open in Dreamweaver. (If you haven't already saved it, do so.)

Locate the up/down arrows icon at the top of the edit window. Click on the blue up-arrow, then click "Put."

Whether your local files are located on your hard-drive or on a network drive, you should be sure to start with the most recent version of the page you plan to update. The Dreamweaver file manager's two-column view includes the "modified" date/time for each file.

" "Click on the Expand icon to switch from one-column to two-column view. Refresh the file manager (View -> Refresh) to ensure accurate date/time information. If the remote file has a more recent date/time, download it. (See instructions below).

Download with Care

When downloading a file from the web server, be sure that you have highlighted the file name. When a file is properly selected, it appears on an intensely-colored bar that goes across the entire frame.
