Leaves are palmately compound, composed of five leaflets. Leaflet edges are toothed.
Flowers are small, greenish, produced in clusters.
Fruit is a small hard purplish-black berry.
Parthenocissus is from the Greek, parteno for "virgin" and cissus for "ivy." The species name, quniquefolia, is from the Latin for "five-leaved."
