Family: Asteraceae, aster family
Genus, species: Rudbeckia subtomentosa

Rudbeckia is named for Olaus Rudbeck (1630-1702) and his son, Olof Rudbeck (1660-1740), both Swedish botanists. The species name, subtomentosa, is from the Latin sub for "below" and tomentosa for "hairy."
