Fernleaf phacelia


Family:  Boraginaceae, forget-me-not family
Genus, species:  Phacelia bipinnatifida

Leaves are pinnately lobed (like a feather).

Plant is a biennial, takes two years to reach maturity. Flowers are ½” wide with five lavender petals. Stamens are long, extend beyond flower petals. Blooms during mid-spring, in May.

More Information:

Flowers look similar to appendaged waterleaf (Hydrophyllum appendiculatum), but leaves are different.  Leaves of fernleaf phacelia are pinnately lobed (like a feather) and leaves of appendaged waterleaf are palmately lobed (like a palm).
