Leaves:
Leaves have three leaflets. Leaves are ovate, coarsely toothed. Lower leaves have long petioles. Upper leaves have shorter petioles.

Upper stems end in umbels of small greenish flowers.

Fruit:
Fruit is a bur, contains two seeds.

More Information:

The genus name Sanicula is from the Latin for "little healer," referring to the plant's medicinal properties.
