Flooding and forest succession: soil and plants
Taylor Cantril, Megan Jensen, and Josh Yoder
Our hypotheses were:
- Soil from sample sites with more intense and frequent floods will have a higher silt content
- Sites with more intense and frequent floods will have greater numbers of woody plant species
Our results were:
- There was no correlation between soil texture and flood zones
- There was no correlation between silt content and total frequency of woody plants
- There was no correlation between flood zone and total frequency of woody plants
- There were interesting biodiversity differences by flood zone
