Welcome to the Ceramics Resource Web Site of DePauw University

The Ceramics Resource web site is designed to provide the beginning ceramics student an overview of topics pertinent to the study of the ceramic medium in a studio environment. The sections titled "Clay", Glaze" and "Kiln" are largely technical discussions of the materials and tools commonly used in a ceramics studio with emphasis given to the techniques we are set up for here at DePauw. The "History" section is a brief review of the time frame of ceramic history and the major cultures contributing to this history. Because of copyright restrictions, most of the illustrations in the history section are limited to work done before 1925. Appreciation is due to the Indianapolis Museum of Art for their cooperation in making their collections available for reproduction here.

The "Ceramics at DePauw" section includes a syllabi for beginning and advanced classes, and other information specific to this program.
