Good News!  Please congratulate these folks when you see them!

Prof. Jeff Hansen's  paper on "Diastereoselective sulfur ylide promoted aldol/epoxidation" was recently released by Tetrahedron Letters. Colin Smith and Ryan Linder, both from the class of 2001, are co-authors as a result of the work they did with Jeff. Additionally, John Huffman, Indiana University, contributed to this work. Prof. Hilary Eppley is the inaugural recipient of the Howard and Mary Ellen black Professorship in Chemistry and Biochemistry in recognition of her exemplary effectiveness in teaching and service to the department and the profession.

Prof. Bridget Gourley and colleagues from Harvey Mudd College, Furman University and Vassar College have received a $500,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to develop and study mentoring strategies for women science faculty.

Prof. Jackie Roberts has received a grant from the Research Corporation for her project on Archea.
