Aristoxenus is the author of important works on Pythagoreanism, lives of Pythagoras, Socrates, Plato and Archytas, as well as central works on music theory, such as the Rhythmics and the Elementa Harmonica, in which is preserved one of the famous accounts of Plato’s lecture on The Good.
