About Professor Harvey-Koelpin

Prior to earning her doctorate Professor Harvey-Koelpin taught in an urban public school for sixteen years. Her research interests include the history of education, education policy, multicultural education, anti-racist education and urban schools. As a faculty member of the Education Studies Department she has taught courses in the foundations of education, multicultural education, social studies methods and tutoring and service learning. Her publications include briefing papers on the history of the Indianapolis Free Kindergarten and Children’s Aid Society and Eliza Blaker, a chapter titled “The Impact of Reform on Students with Disabilities” in E. Brantlinger’s edited book Remediating Other People’s Children and the “NCLB Digest” in Comprehensive Multicultural Education by C. Bennett. Her commitment to the Conflict Studies steering committee is directly related to the focus of her research in multicultural and anti-racist education.
