A lifelong Greencastle resident, Kim Hinkle Brattain has been a member of the Department of Education Studies since February of 2006.  Before coming to DePauw, she was a classroom teacher for eleven years, with licensure and experience in general elementary education, middle school English, and gifted/talented (G/T) education.  She also taught courses at Indiana University in elementary social studies methods.  At DePauw, she has taught a course in secondary English/language arts methods, and is responsible for the Teacher Education Committee, NCATE and Unit Assessment System (UAS) coordination, field placements, and licensure.

Her educational background includes a B.S. in Elementary Education (Summa cum Laude) from Indiana State University and an M.S. Ed. from Indiana University Bloomington.  Additionally, she was awarded a Dean’s Fellowship for Doctoral Studies from the School of Education at IUB, serving her residency in the Curriculum Studies program during the 2002-03 academic year.  She anticipates completion of her Ph.D. by the fall of 2010.
