TEC
The Teacher Education Committee advises the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the licensure officer on all matters relating to the preparation of teachers and the licensure requirements which should be met by students desiring licensure. This advising includes approving students applying to the teacher education program, making recommendations for departmental licensure patterns, and making recommendations to the faculty concerning the teacher education program. It reports periodically to the Committee on Management of Academic Operations.
The Teacher Education Committee is comprised of: the Vice President for Academic Affairs (or his or her representative); two members of the Education Studies Department, one from elementary and one from secondary education, one of whom is the Chair of the Education Studies Department (or his or her representative); six elected faculty members (one elected from each division and two elected at large), of which no more than two may be from one division and no more than one from each department. The TEC chair is the Chair of the Education Studies Department (or his or her representative).
TEC Update – November 2007
The Teacher Education Committee met on Tuesday, November 27th from 4-6 PM in the Department of Education Studies lounge in the basement of Asbury Hall. Those present heard updates regarding the MAT proposal, which has been sent to the IDOE-DPS for approval. Also in relation to the MAT, members reviewed a copy of the department’s timeline for MAT implementation. In addition, TEC members heard an update of music education program admissions and second semester student teaching. The committee will meet again in February, 2008.
