Marcelle McVorran is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, resident in the United States for more than 37 years.  She studied at the State University of New York at Buffalo, gaining degrees in Elementary Education( B.Sc.), Human Geography (B.A), Education Studies (M.Ed), and Comparative Education (Ph.D). Her areas of research include Policy Studies in Education, Comparative Education, Sociology of Education and Caribbean Studies.  She came to DePauw University in 1989, and currently teaches courses in Foundations of Education, Cultural Studies in Education, Comparative Education and the Political Economy of Schools.  Dr. McVorran led several winterterms to the Southern Caribbean and to Bahia, Brazil.  She has served on the International and Off-campus committee, the Student Judiciary, the Chaplain’s Advisory committee, the Management and Operations committee, and steering committees for Latin-American and Caribbean Studies, Conflict Studies and the Hartman Center. She has also served as Chair of the Education Studies department in 2003 and in 2006-8.
