Deborah R. Geis (Debby) received her B.A. in English and French from Cornell University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Previously, she taught at Queens College of the City University of New York,  the University of Tennessee, and Oberlin College. She is the author of Postmodern Theatric(k)s: Monologue in Contemporary American Drama (1993) and co-editor, with Steven F. Kruger, of Approaching the Millennium: Essays on Angels in America (1997). Her other publications include articles on such playwrights as Ntozake Shange, Maria Irene Fornes, Adrienne Kennedy, David Mamet, and Edward Albee in Theatre Journal, American Drama, and a number of other journals and essay anthologies. Her main academic interests are in modern/contemporary drama, postmodern literature, feminist theory, and film studies. She has recently published an edited volume on Art Spiegelman's Maus and is writing a book on identity politics in American feminist drama and performance. Her new book, Suzan-Lori Parks has just been released by the University of Michigan Press. Debby is also a performance poet who has competed nationally in poetry slams.
