Mark Allan Jackson earned his BA from Hendrix College, his MA from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University. HIs essays have appeared in such journals as American Music and Popular Music and Society. He has also produced two CD collections, John Handcox: Songs, Poems, and Stories of the Southern Tenant Farmers Union and Coal Digging Blues: Songs of West Virginia Miners, as part of the West Virginia University Press' Sound Archive Series. His first book, Prophet Singer: The Voice and Vision of Woody Guthrie, will appear in 2007 through the University Press of Mississippi.
