Martha Rainbolt
, Professor of English, specializes in teaching first-year writing classes and eighteenth-century British literature. In British literature, she focuses her writing on Jane Austen, Anne Finch, Katherine Philips and other women writers of the early periods. She is especially interested in the ways in which these women write for and about each other.  

Rainbolt earned a bachelor’s degree from Baldwin-Wallace College; master’s and doctoral degrees from University of Missouri at Columbia. She has received many awards, including the Sears-Roebuck Foundation "Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award" and the Frederick C. Tucker Distinguished Career Award. She has been department chair, has directed the Honor Scholar program, and has served as the University’s Faculty Development Coordinator.
