Curriculum

Retention Criteria
In order to remain in good standing with the ATEP, students must adhere to the following guidelines.

  • enroll as a full-time student.
  • maintain an overall cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or higher.
  • maintain a program GPA of 2.5 or higher in department courses.
  • achieve satisfactory evaluations in each Clinical Practicum Phase before progressing.
  • successfully complete coursework in the sequence indicated by the program of study unless approved by Athletic Training Program Director.
  • abide by the University Code of Ethics and that of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
  • abide by policies and procedures set forth by the Director of Sports Medicine and DePauw Sports Medicine
  • obtain Hepatitis B vaccination or sign a wavier prior to clinical experiences
  • complete annual TB screening
  • show proof of passing a medical physical examination from an approved physician.
  • maintain CPR professional rescuer or healthcare provider level
  • successfully complete a winter term athletic training  internship.
  • successfully document and complete 800 clinical practicum hours under the supervision of a certified athletic trainer
    • minimum of 160 hours completed prior to the beginning of the Junior academic year.
    • minimum of 450 hours completed prior to the beginning of the Senior academic year.
    • minimum of 100 hours per Clinical Practicum course (KINS 150, 160, 303, 304, 403, 404)
