Facility Information

The Department of Kinesiology is housed in the Lilly Physical Education and Recreation Center. The Applied Physiology Laboratory is located in the Lilly Center and has a state of the art metabolic measurement system for measurement of respiratory gases, a blood lactate analyzer, a bioelectric impedance analyzer for assessment of body water and body composition, a Cybex isokinetic force transducer, a computer interfaced cycle ergometer for measurement of anaerobic and aerobic power, and instrumentation for studying motor learning. Two expanded sports medicine rooms enable sports medicine students to use modern equipment to assess balance and do biomechanical analysis. In addition, the department has six handball/racquetball courts, and a fieldhouse with space for three basketball courts, eight badminton courts, three volleyball courts, and an indoor track. Other instructional/recreational facilities within the Lilly Center include an auxiliary gym, a dance studio, martial arts/wrestling room, a 25 yard by 25 meter pool and a fitness facility with free weights, weight machines and aerobic exercise equipment. There is also a new indoor tennis and track facility with six indoor tennis courts, a 200m track, and a golf area. All students are afforded the opportunity select a Winter Term experience that will advance their professional understandings in areas such as orthopedic surgery, clinical exercise physiology, clinical biomechanics, sports nutrition, coaching or sport marketing.
