Latin American & Caribbean Studies

Latin American and Caribbean Studies is an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary program designed to offer students the opportunity to study the peoples and cultures of Latin America and the Caribbean. Through a broad variety of course offerings, this program encourages students to deepen their understanding of and appreciation for the geography, history, heritage, religions and philosophies, social customs, language, literature, and arts of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as their political and economic structures, and their relations to other countries.  The program seeks to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in a variety of fields - including international business, foreign affairs, bilingual education, journalism, social work - as well as for graduate work in Latin American and Caribbean Studies or its related fields.
