Department News Fall 2008

New Faculty: This semester we welcome Dr. Timothy Stiles to the department.  He comes to us from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and does research in Medical Physics.  This semester Dr. Stiles is teaching 120 and Mechanics.  His office is Julian 238, stop by and meet him!


Physics Club: On September 4 the Physics Club met to elect officers, plan activities for the semester, and have an egg drop contest.  The new officers are:
President: David Good
Vice President: Hao Li
Treasurer: Akanksha Chawla
Secretaries: Avery Archer and Francillia Samuel (also Student Congress Representative)
Social Chair: Nadia Lustig

Research    Dr. Brooks' balloon research continues this semester with some exciting launches planned.  Students in the Experimental Methods class will be participating, and you can read more about the research at the BASE site.
