                ProQuest, the publisher of CSA Sociological Abstracts , the premier bibliographic database of international sociological literature, has an annual call for submissions describing how use of CSA Sociological Abstracts has assisted in teaching and learning. Entries will provide practical examples of how this database has advanced sociological scholarship and research, as well as contributed to the development of information literacy skills among students.

Marie Hopwood, Anthropology

Household Archaeology in the Middle East and Beyond: Theory, Method and Practice hosted by the Middle East Center at the University of Utah. The conference will run from February 19-21, 2009 at Fort Douglas on the campus of the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. My talk is entitled “Creating Community: Food Preparation and Community Cohesion at Fistikli Hoyuk, A Halaf Period Site.”

Interpreting the Late Neolithic of Upper Mesopotamia hosted by The National Museum of Antiquities, The Netherlands. The conference will run from March 26-28, 2009. My talk is entitled "Feeding a Community: Recreating Food Preparation at a Halaf Period Site."

 

David M. Newman, Sociology

Professor of sociology David M. Newman received the Edwin L. Minar Jr. Scholarship Award. Established in 1981, the award is presented in recognition of exceptional scholarly achievement and is named in honor of its first recipient, a former professor in the department of classical studies.
