Gloria Childress Townsend

Gloria Childress TownsendGloria Childress Townsend, Professor of Computer Science, is determined that women will be fully represented in her department and her profession.  In the past few years, she has begun carrying this determination, which was always evident in her teaching and mentoring of women students, into conference presentations, papers, and grant-writing.

Professor Townsend has been invited to join the Committee on Women in Computing of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM-W) http://www.acm.org/women/ and to join the National Center of Women & Information Technology's Academic Alliance http://www.ncwit.org/who.all.html . She is also very involved with student research, with Science Research Fellows http://www.depauw.edu/honors/science/ and with a National Science Foundation interdisciplinary project, funded to provide answers to interdisciplinary research questions involving swallowtail butterflies.
