Global Opportunities

DePauw empowers its community to be culturally aware, socially responsible citizens able to address the urgent challenges of the 21st century.

Study, Serve and Intern Abroad

For current students, there are semester, summer or Winter Term options for studying, serving, conducting research, or interning in other countries.  Increasingly DePauw graduates are winning prestigious competitive scholarships and awards to study, work, and conduct research abroad.  Several faculty members also partner with students in completing scholarly, artistic, and creative work that has an international component.

On-Campus Curriculum

Through semester courses and on-campus Winter Term classes, students and faculty explore a growing variety of international topics in both breadth and depth.  Faculty members share insights from their experiences at locations around the world.  Occasionally, visiting international faculty members and scholars provide guest lectures or courses.

On-Campus Activities & Events

Through a variety of student organizations, including the International Student Association, Association of Students Interested in Asia, and Model United Nations, and offices that support diversity on campus, such as Multicultural & International Life, the Compton Center for Peace & Justice, and Spiritual Life, members of the University and citizens of Putnam County regularly engage in a variety of activities and events that celebrate and explore global issues.

Local Opportunities

Whether it is students sharing their own cultures with local school-age children, teaching the local police department basic Spanish, or interning with an international business in Greencastle, our University and Putnam County communities regularly engage with each other across national, linguistic and cultural differences.
