Community Ride Shuttle Program
To support and encourage academic and co-curricular student engagement in the local community, a newly-created CGPOpps-managed work study program will offer students transportation in Greencastle and the surrounding Putnam County. The shuttle service will run weekdays from 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM.
The ability to access longer distances will give individual DePauw students the opportunity to do research or volunteer at schools and agencies beyond walking distance from DePauw. It will also make it possible for DePauw’s service-oriented groups to expand their overwhelmingly centralized efforts and extend to areas outside Greencastle. With the program, towns like Cloverdale, Roachdale, and Bainbridge become feasible locations for academic study or civic engagement.
A student driver will be on call at all advertised hours during the week. Students may make appointments in advance for single or repeated trips. Drop-ins for immediate transportation will be accommodated as the schedule permits.
The program is located in the Hartman Student Leader Office in the Union Building. Work study student drivers will be located there to meet users and to respond to email requests and update the schedule.
Details:
- The transportation project can be reached at communityride@depauw.edu.
