Servicio en Las Americas
Servicio en Las Americas is a service opportunity available to incoming first-year students. Students spend three weeks on campus in an intensive Spanish enrichment program, and then participate in a two-week service project in a Spanish-speaking country. Servicio springboards the students into their DePauw experience, and for many participants is a life-changing experience that impacts them long after they return to campus.
These courses creatively integrate the history, arts, culture and current events taking place in a region into the curriculum, enabling you to witness firsthand how the past impacts the present and future. You also can gain key language and cultural experience during these intensive Extended Studies classes, which take place in Winter Term or May Term. Those curricular classes that provide .5 credits toward graduation are also eligible to financial aid.
Summer Internship Grant Program
The Summer Internship Grant Program is one of DePauw’s trademark programs to help students prepare for their future. The grant supports students pursuing unpaid summer internships in nonprofits, government agencies and start-up businesses.
The DePauw-Kelley Winter Term course teaches students how for-profit organizations, nonprofit agencies, creative industries, start-ups and entrepreneurship organizations are created and function. Students learn about roles within organizations and see how the skills they have acquired in pursuit of their liberal arts education can be deployed successfully in organizations.
Sophomore Institute is a professional conference-style event that is offered to incoming sophomore students before the beginning of their second year at DePauw. Students listen to leaders and employers in diverse industries as they provide the resources and support to start successfully preparing to pursue your professional and post-graduate goals.
