Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

Thanks for your participation with the first MLK Day of Service. Here is where students served last January, 2014.

Asbury Towers
Are you passionate about working with the elderly? Asbury Towers provides assisted living assistance to hundreds of elderly individuals. Your MLK experience will consist of interacting with elderly population during a group activity. Asbury Towers is located at 102 Poplar Street in Greencastle and you will serve from 11:00am-12:30pm. 

Best Buddies
Best Buddies is a global volunteer movement that offers opportunities for one-on-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. During your MLK service experience, you will work with a group of adults as they complete a craft and learn about MLK. This will take place in the UB Ballroom from 5:00-6:30 PM Beyond Homeless Incorporated Greencastle is getting ready to reopen the homeless shelter and needs your help in getting the building ready. During your MLK experience you will be cleaning and doing basic maintenance work on the building. The service will take place from 2:00-4:00pm and is located at 309 East Franklin Street.

Rescued Treasures
Rescued Treasures is a thrift store that raises money for the future animal shelter sponsored by the Humane Society in Greencastle. During your service experience you will help itemize goods and stock shelves at the store. Rescued Treasures is located next to Goodwill at 1021 Indianapolis Rd and you will be doing service from 1:00-2:30pm.

YMCA RidPath Elementary
The YMCA is an after-school program for elementary youth located at Ridpath Elementary school that is within walking distance of DePauw’s campus. You will be interacting with kids and helping with daily activities from 3:00-4:30pm. The YMCA is located at 711 South Central Avenue
