Computer Science Alum Recognized for Impact as an Educator (Spring 2012)
As reported on the Park Tudor School web site, “2012 Park Tudor Senior Rebecca Chen has been named a 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholar, one of three Park Tudor students to be honored as a Presidential Scholar since 2007. Only one young woman and one young man have been chosen from each State, the District of Columbia, and from families of U.S. citizens living abroad. Fifteen students have been selected at large, and 20 have been chosen from the visual and performing arts.”
The web site explains that “each Presidential Scholar is asked to identify the one teacher who has had the most influence on him or her; Rebecca has selected Computer Science teacher Ryan Ritz, who will be honored with a Teacher Recognition Award at a reception during the National Recognition Weekend”. Ryan Ritz is a 1997 graduate of DePauw University, where he majored in Computer Science. Several of Ryan’s students at Park Tudor have continued their Computer Science studies at DePauw, and Ryan frequently collaborates with DePauw faculty members on pedagogical techniques and software development projects. Congratulations to Rebecca and to Ryan on their note-worthy recognition.
