Students Attend Indiana Celebration of Women in Computing Conference (Spring 2010)
Six of our female majors attended the Indiana Celebration of Women in Computing conference in February of 2010. Three presented posters: "Killer Whale Habitat Use and Distribution off the Southwest Coast of Alaska" (Kasey Aderhold) and "Cyber-culture Hodgepodge (Jianling Fang and Yi Wang). Three gave talks: "Best Kept Secret of Computer Science" (Kiara Williams); "The Real World: 4 Things They Didn't Tell You" ( Erin Donahue) and "What a Web We Weave: Enhancing Conferences with an Online Community" (Ashley Myers). Erin won the "best talk" award, and Kasey won the "best undergraduate poster" award – National Science Foundation funding to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference fall 2010. Kiara served as the conference student chair, so she also received funding for the same conference.
