Part-time Instructor of Modern Languages (Chinese)
I began studying Chinese as a high school student in my hometown of Rockville, MD. I continued my Chinese studies at Lawrence University where I earned a BA in Government, East Asian Studies, and Chinese. Upon graduation I traveled to Taiwan as a Fulbright ETA. I spent one year in Kaohsiung, co-teaching English classes at a public elementary school and one year in Taipei studying at NTNU's Mandarin Training Center. I returned to the US in 2010 to begin my graduate studies in Chinese (linguistics) at Indiana University. While at IU, I taught for the Chinese STARTALK program, Flagship Chinese Institute and taught two years of Introductory Chinese as an associate instructor. I am currently writing my MA thesis, the topic of which focuses on sociolinguistics and discourse.Back to Faculty
