The third flight in the 2013 Summer Science Research Fellows program.
BASE 73 was launched from the Northmont Schools (40.12N, 86.91W) at 12:15 pm Eastern Daylight Time on 10 June 2013. The filling of the 600 gram hydrogen balloon was complicated by steady winds in excess of 10 miles per hour with gusts reaching 20 miles per hour. The balloon burst at 96,000 feet. During the descent the track made a suprising turn to the south and picked up forward speed. It is believed that this was caused by increased winds due to nearby heavy rain showers. The packages landed in a young corn field just north of US 136 between Jamestown and New Ross, Indiana (39.95N, 86.66W).
