Professor John Schlotterbeck came to DePauw in 1978 after studying at Johns Hopkins and the University of Michigan and teaching at Oberlin. He covers a range of courses in American history, including “American Experience: The West,” ”American Experience: Race Relations,” “Founding of United States Civilization,”; ”Nineteenth Century US,” “Africa and the Black Diaspora,” “History Beyond the Classroom,” “Civil War and Reconstruction,” ”Internship in Public History,” and “Family and Community in the US,” a quantitative reasoning course which is cross-listed in women’s studies. His interests also include folklore, and the history of the American popular song. |
