Marthe Chandler

Professor Emerita of Philosophy

Marthe ChandlerMarthe Chandler, a founding mother of women’s studies at DePauw, taught philosophy for several decades, specializing in Logic, Philosophy of Mind, and Chinese Philosophy, and also developed one of DePauw’s first feminist courses. She served for many years on the Women’s Studies Committee and the Affirmative Action Committee as well as the Asian Studies Committee. She is co-editor of Polishing the Chinese Mirror: Essays in Honor of Henry Rosemont, Jr. In 2006 she received the Tucker Distinguished Career Award.
