MICHELINA FERRARA

MICHELINA FERRARA

Class of 2012, Women’s Studies Major
New York City

I came to DePauw knowing exactly what I wanted to be and exactly the major that would get me there. In the first semester of my first year, I found Women’s Studies … more like, it found me. I was in an Introduction to Women’s Studies class and my entire world went from clear to hazy. I began unpacking aspects of my culture, my ethnicity, and my gender that I had felt but never had the words for. I became Michelina that year.

Since then Women’s Studies has been the catalyst for my intellectual curiosity, adventures in Italy, Ghana, and Morocco, internships in education, law, and non-profits, and my social-justice activism.
