This session will provide an opportunity to start an application and start drafting the statement of grant purpose, a key part of the application.

Fulbright Application Workshop: Advice from the Screening Committee
- for all students planning to apply for an award in 2017
This session will provide an opportunity to hear from faculty members who have reviewed applications as part of the National Screening Committee - those who determine which applications go on to the country Fulbright committees.

In this workshop, will go over what the Fulbright program is, what the application timeline is, importance of country knowledge, and begin to work on the Personal Statement (PS).

Workshop #1: Personal Statement Workshop, Overview of Statement of Grant Purpose
In this workshop, students will share their PS drafts with each other for feedback. We will also go over what a Statement of Grant Purpose (SGP) should include.

Workshop #2: Statement of Grant Purpose Workshop, Revising the Personal Statement
In this workshop, students will share their SGP drafts with each other for feedback. We will also continue revising the personal statement.

Workshop #3: Interview Preparation, Country Knowledge
In this workshop, we will cover what to expect in the interview and how to prepare for it. As time allows, we will also have some time to share drafts of the PS and SGP for further editing.

Workshop #4: Mock Interview and Last Questions
We will conduct a mock interview and discuss the process. As time allows, we will share drafts of PS and SGP for last review and editing. Any last questions or concerns will be discussed.

Deadline for students to submit their application through Embark, the application system

September 18 – 22, 2017
On-Campus Interviews
Interviews last 30 minutes and will be scheduled and communicated directly with applicants
Once interviews are complete, applications will be un-submitted for any final, small edits

Deadline for students to submit their final application through Embark, the application system

Fulbright Adviser uploads campus committee evaluation forms and submits applications to Fulbright

National Fulbright Application Deadline

Late January 2018
Fulbright announces decisions of the National Screening Committee process via email. Applications moving on in the process are sent to in-country Fulbright commissions to review.

Mid-March thru late-May 2018
Fulbright announces decisions of in-country Fulbright commissions.
