Boren Scholarships support language study and study abroad in world regions critical to U.S. interests. Requires a commitment to work for the federal government in a related area. Funded by the National Security Education Program (NSEP). Open to U.S. citizens.

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Junior Fellows Program
In the Junior Fellows Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace fellows work as research assistants to the Endowment's senior associates. Positions are paid, full-time positions for one year, with a full benefits package.

Pickering Undergraduate and Graduate Fellowships
Supports students who intend to join the US Dept. of State Foreign Service. Women, members of historically underrepresented groups, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply.

Rangel Graduate Fellowship
Support students through two years of graduate study, internships and professional development activities, and entry into the Foreign Service. Fellows who successfully complete the program and Foreign Service entry requirements will receive appointments as Foreign Service Officers, one of the most exciting and rewarding careers available.

Rangel Summer Enrichment Program
Supports participation in a six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers. Students live at Howard University, attend classes, and participate in a variety of programs with foreign affairs professionals at Howard and at diverse locations around Washington, DC. The Program covers the costs for tuition, travel, housing, and two meals per day, as well as a stipend.

Summer internships at German Universities and Research Institutes for students in biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, and engineering. Knowledge of German not required. Open to students from the U.S., U.K., and Canada.

NSF-Graduate Research Fellowship
The Graduate Research Fellowship provides three years of support for graduate study leading to a research-based masters or doctoral degree and is intended for students who are at the early stages of their graduate study. NIH - Oxford/Cambridge
An accelerated, individualized doctoral training program for outstanding science students committed to bio-medical research. The projects culminate in the award of a D.Phil or Ph.D. in science from either Oxford or Cambridge. Students may also pursue combined M.D./Ph.D. training through partnerships the program maintains with a broad range of American medical schools.

James Madison Fellowship for Graduate Education in Constitutional History and Government
Supports 2 years of graduate study towards a master's degree concentrating on American history or government; for students who teach or plan to teach about the U.S. Constitution in secondary school.

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
Students must qualify as "new Americans" to apply. 30 scholarships awarded nationally. Supports up to two years of graduate study in any professional field or scholarly discipline; applicants must be "new Americans" -- resident alien with green card, naturalized U.S. citizen, child of at least one naturalized citizen. Selection criteria emphasize creativity, originality, initiative, and sustained accomplishment.

Woodrow Wilson STEM Teaching Fellowship
$30,000 stipend to support pursuit of master's in teaching; mentoring and training for secondary school teaching in STEM subjects. Requires a major or significant experience in a STEM subject.

Davies-Jackson Graduate Scholarship
Supports 2 years of graduate study at St. John's College, Cambridge University. Designed for students in the arts, humanities, and social sciences "who are among the very first in their families to have graduated from college.

Gates Cambridge Graduate Scholarship
Supports 1-4 years of study at Cambridge University. Goal is to create future leaders who will address global problems related to health, equity, technology, and learning.  U.S. and non-U.S. citizens are eligible, though deadlines vary.

Marshall Scholarship
Supports 2 years of study in any discipline at a university in the U.K., leading to the award of a British University degree. Highly competitive.

Mitchell Scholarship
12 Scholarships awarded annually to U.S. citizens. Supports 1 year of graduate study at a university in Ireland for future American leaders. Goal is to promote understanding of "the island from which 44 million Americans claim descent."
