The Implications of Mountaintop Removal, with Guest Speaker Adam Hall
October 24, 2012- Co-sponsored by the Environmental Fellows and DePauw Environmental Club, the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics hosted a panel discussion on the moral implications of Mountaintop Removal in Appalachia. Also present was guest speaker Adam Hall, a native West Virginian and environmental activist involved in resistance movements in the Mountain State.
The panel consisted of faculty members who discussed the issue from the perspective of their respective disciplines (including economics, geoscience, and philosophy). Anthony Barrata of the Office for Sustainability also presented on energy consumption on campus and how much of it originates from Appalachian coal.
