Prospective Students

The Environmental Fellows Program application is available to incoming students for the fall semester of 2024.

If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact Amber Hecko at 765.658.4071 or at envfellows@depauw.edu.  For fullest consideration, please apply within 30 days of receiving your acceptance at DePauw.  However, applications, particularly from students applying internationally, will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until the Environmental Fellows Class of 2028 is filled.

Application Checklist

Complete these three simple steps to apply.

1. SUBMIT A DEPAUW UNIVERSITY APPLICATION.

  • Before you can apply to the Environmental Fellows Program, you must first apply to DePauw and be admitted. You will receive information about applying to the Environmental Fellows Program when you receive your acceptance letter.

2. PREPARE YOUR APPLICATION.

Please submit either a creative project or essay (500 words or less) in response to one of the two prompts below.

  • Creative Project: If you are interested in submitting a creative project instead of an essay (for example, a podcast, video, photo essay, or collage), think carefully about how the medium you choose supports your message and include an artist statement. Your creative project should introduce us to an environmental issue you care about and your understanding of causes, impacts, and/or solutions for addressing it.

  • Essay: The photograph below is titled "The Bitter Death of Birds," by Mehdi Mohebi. What would you like to learn at DePauw to help you understand the photograph better? As an environmental thinker, how does the photo confirm what you've already thought and how does it challenge you to think some more? In essence, what complex web of issues does this single photograph signify?
