WITHDRAWING FROM A CLASS

You may withdraw from a course through the seventh week of the semester.  To do so, complete the following steps:

  1. Talk with your advisor about your reasons for wishing to drop a class.
  2. Pick up a registration adjustment form from the Registrar's Office on the first floor of the Administration Building, or download the form.
  3. Ask your professor to sign the form.
  4. Ask your advisor to sign the form.
  5. Turn in the signed form to the registrar's office no later than 4:30 p.m. of the deadline date. (Deadlines can be viewed here.)

Please be advised:

  1. If you withdraw from a class after the adjustment period (first six class days) but within the first seven weeks of the semester, you will receive a W on your transcript, indicating that you withdrew from the class. There is no penalty attached to a record of W (withdrawal).
  2. The deadline is strictly enforced by the Petitions Committee.  In order to withdraw from a course after the deadline, you must submit a petition.  In these cases, withdrawal is not automatic and must be approved by the Petitions Committee; a late fee may also be assessed if the petition is approved.
  3. You may request a brief extension if you do so in person in the Registrar’s Office prior to the deadline.
