Mellon Faculty Career Enhancement (FCE) Initiatives

In 2003 and 2007, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded to the Mellon Cluster, a group of eight liberal arts institutions, grants that provide funding for collaborative projects that enhance the vitality of faculty careers.  Proposals are accepted in the fall.

The Mellon Cluster includes the following institutions:  Denison University, DePauw University, Furman University, Harvey Mudd College, Middlebury College, Rhodes College, Scripps College, and Vassar College.  Funds are managed by DePauw University.

Mellon 23 Faculty Career Enhancement (FCE) Program

In 2006, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded the Mellon 23, a group of twenty-three liberal arts institutions, a Faculty Career Enhancement Program grant. This grant provides funding for collaborative initiatives that support faculty members in their scholarly and creative work and that aid faculty members in gaining a broader view of their institutions and of the pressing challenges facing American liberal arts colleges.  Proposals are accepted in the fall. 

The Mellon 23 includes the following institutions: Amherst College, Barnard College, Bryn Mawr College, Carleton College, Denison University, DePauw University, Furman University, Grinnell College, Harvey Mudd College, Haverford College, Macalester College, Middlebury College, Oberlin College, Pomona College, Reed College, Rhodes College, Scripps College, Smith College, Swarthmore College, Vassar College, Wesleyan University, Wellesley College, and Williams College.  Funds are managed by Barnard College.
