Class attendance policies are not determined by Student Disability Services.  Because attendance may be integral to the pedagogic process, the university and individual faculty members set these policies.  Please consult the DePauw University Student Handbook for additional information regarding the class attendance and absences policy. 

Similarly, faculty members determine policies regarding make-up work and missed quizzes and exams in their classes.  A faculty member is not required to alter standards fundamentally for modification purposes.  Student Disability Services, upon written permission from the student, will issue an ADA modification memo verifying the presence of a disability, which has the potential to affect attendance.  Verification is based upon written medical and/or psychological documentation from an appropriate professional.

Students are responsible for reporting absences directly to their professors in accordance with professors’ attendance policies.  Students are also advised to listen closely to faculty announcements about attendance and make-up policies and procedures and to check course syllabi for additional information about these issues.
