Prizes & Other Scholarships for Upper-Class Students

There are a few scholarships awarded to students not based on a students choice of major. These are tuition only scholarships to be used the following year the student is enrolled at DePauw University.

Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media

Gertrude and G. D. Crain Foundation Award is awarded to students making the most effective use of the facilities provided by the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media.

Financial Aid Office

Katherine Cox Hoover Scholarship was established by James E. and Katherine Cox Hoover ('51) to be awarded to a sophomore exhibiting outstanding character, leadership, and special talents in extra curricular activities. [Print the application form...]

D. J. Angus Scientech Educational Foundation Award is given to a sophomore or junior science student showing the greatest GPA improvement from the previous year.

Jack Torr Prize is awarded to a Putnam County student who comes from a farm in the county in memory of Jack Torr.

Stuart D. and Jane P. Watson Delta Tau Delta Award provides annual scholarships to the fraternity members who maintain the highest grade point averages.

Martha Weddell Nicholson Scholarship

This award is given to an academic, female, rising senior interested in the sciences who is involved in many activities at DePauw

Joan Westmen Battey Kappa Alpha Theta Scholarship

The Joan Westmen Battey Scholarship is awarded to a student from Kappa Alpha Theta who has the highest GPA during the fall semester of her sophomore year.

Gerald F. Fitzgerald, Jr. Scholarship is awarded to a student who is an active participant in campus ministry programs as recommended by the Dean of the Chapel.

Union Board

Randal L. Wilson Memorial Union Board Award is given to the junior student in recognition of most campus involvement. Parents of Randal L. Wilson established this award in 1966 in memory of their son who had been president of the Union Board.

Japanese Studies

Sharon Hamilton Nolte Prize in Japanese Studies is awarded to the student having a grade point average of 3.30 or higher while studying at a Japanese University. The award is given in memory of Sharon Hamilton Nolte (member of the Department of History 1984-87).

Hartman Center

Men's Hall Alumni Association Achievement Scholarship is awarded to a student whose academic achievement, extra curricular involvement, and character typify the standards of the men who once lived at Men's Hall.

DePauw University Archives

Clifton J. Phillips Archives Essay Award is awarded to the student who has written the best paper of 1000 words minimum on a topic of their choosing.  Successful entries must have utilized a significant amount of research in resources at the Archives of DePauw University and Indiana United Methodism.
