Once a student is enrolled at DePauw University, the only awards recognizing outstanding achievement or special talent are given through academic departments or administrative offices. These are tuition only grants to be used the following year while the student attends the university. Students wanting to apply for departmental awards should contact the academic department chair to find out about their application process. Awards made through other offices will publicize the application process through the DePauw or posters on campus in February. The awards are not usually renewable although some students may receive an award for more than one year.
Some departmental awards or upper-class prizes are made to students graduating from DePauw the year they are awarded. The Department of Education ruling states that these awards have to be considered as awarded during that year. Adjustments will be made to the students current award in order to comply with federal regulations.
The Kiwanis Club of Indianapolis annually offers a $5,000 scholarship to a currently enrolled Indianapolis area student which includes Marion, Boone, Hendricks, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Hancock and Hamilton Counties. College graduating seniors are not eligible.
Applications will be reviewed and finalists selected. These finalists will be notified and an on campus interview will be scheduled with the Kiwanis Committee.
