Scholarships For Incoming Students

Alumni Legacy Awards

Alumni Legacy Awards of $1,000 per year are offered to students whose mother, father, grandmother or grandfather graduated from DePauw. These awards are made regardless of financial need; if you apply for need-based financial assistance and qualify, additional financial aid will be offered.

National Merit

National Merit Scholarships of $1000 are awarded to students who are named National Merit Finalists and who have listed DePauw as their first-choice school with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. National Merit Scholarships are offered in addition to other Merit Awards and will not exceed the cost of tuition.

Music Performance

Music Performance Awards are available to School of Music and College of Liberal Arts candidates who qualify through an audition with the School of Music. Contact the School of Music at (800)447-2495 for additional information and to schedule an audition.

United Methodist Scholarships

United Methodist Scholarships are awarded to nine students attending DePauw. To qualify, the applicant must have a B grade point average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale), demonstrate financial need as determined by completing the FAFSA, and be a member of the United Methodist Church at least one year. Current students have the same selection criteria. Applications are available from the Financial Aid Office or in pdf format. June 1st is the application deadline. A certification of church membership is required from the student's home church. Renewal is based upon a student continuing to meet the eligibility requirements.

United Methodist Foundation Awards

United Methodist Foundation Awards are available to one student in each class. The applications for these $1,000 awards are available in the Financial Aid Office or in pdf format. The certification of church membership is also required. A student can receive a Foundation Award only once.

Malpas Trust Scholarship

The Rolla M. Malpas Trust Scholarship is available to outstanding Indiana students who have substantial eligibility for financial assistance. Eligibility is determined by applying a consistent set of standards to financial data provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)and the DePauw Application for Financial Aid.  The CSS Profile can be used instead of the DePauw Application for Financial Aid. The Malpas Scholarship meets the recipient's full need.

Applicants must have been born in Indiana, graduated from an Indiana public high school and have maintained a high school scholastic average of at least a B+ or its equivalent. Recipients of the Malpas Trust Scholarships are not permitted, due to the provisions in the Malpas will, to hold a job during the school year or obtain scholarship or loans from other sources.

The Malpas Scholarship is renewable each year contingent upon maintenance of a 3.0 grade point average each semester during the first year and a 3.25 grade point average each semester thereafter.
