Assistant Athletic Trainer

RESPONSIBILITIES
Will work under the direction of the Director of Sports Medicine and Director of Athletics. Responsibilities include athletic trainer for Fall, Winter and Spring sports teams as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine; evaluating and managing sports injuries occurring to DePauw’s intercollegiate athletes by providing initial care, referral (when necessary), treatment and rehabilitation; traveling with assigned teams in accordance with sports medicine travel guidelines; assisting in the daily operation of the athletic training room facilities including but not limited to medical record keeping, secondary insurance, risk management, physician clinic, and evaluating and supervising athletic training students; working in cooperation with team physicians, student health services, counseling services, coaches, and administrators pertaining to the delivery of sports health care to DePauw student-athletes; complying with University, SCAC Conference, and NCAA policies and regulations; and other duties as assigned. Duties may include part-time teaching with the approval of the chair of the Kinesiology Department and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree required. Must have NATABOC certification; Indiana licensing; and current CPR certification with AED training. CPR instructor preferred. Clinical experience with male and female athletic injuries in the collegiate or professional setting; well developed written and oral communication skills; previous experiences with teaching and clinical athletic training education and supervision; demonstrated commitment to the education of athletic training students; commitment to providing quality sports medical care and maintaining a safe environment for DePauw’s athletes to compete in; understanding the role athletics play in a rigorous academic setting; excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills; sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds; and a commitment to a diverse community required.
