Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer
Part-time, 10-month, non-benefit position

RESPONSIBILITIES
Will work under the direction of the Director of Sports Medicine and Director of Athletics. Responsibilities include athletic trainer for Fall, Winter and Spring sports teams as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine; serving as facility athletic trainer during practice hours; providing injury and emergency care at assigned athletic practices, home events and away events; developing and implementing injury prevention strategies; evaluating and managing sports injuries occurring to DePauw’s intercollegiate athletes by providing initial care, referral (when necessary), treatment and rehabilitation; making appropriate medical documentation related to patient care and completing all other necessary medical recordkeeping; filing secondary insurance claims; assisting the athletic training staff with supervision of athletic training students; participating in staffing of the weekly physician clinics; working collaboratively with the team physicians and staff athletic trainers in the injury care process; working as a liaison between physicians, coaches, parents and athletes in regards to injury management and treatment plans; complying with University, SCAC Conference, and NCAA policies and regulations; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or Kinesiology related area required. Must have NATABOC certification or certified eligible; Indiana licensed or licensed eligible; and current CPR certification. Commitment to providing quality sports medical care and maintaining a safe environment in which DePauw’s athletes can compete; understanding the role athletics play in a rigorous academic setting; excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills; sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds; and a commitment to a diverse community required.
Assistantships consist of tuition waiver and stipend.
