The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) works with LGBT Services and the Women’s Center to support the DePauw University mission.

Our Mission
The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) at DePauw University serves the DePauw campus by providing programs and services on issues of multiculturalism, diversity, and social justice, and by acting as an advocate for members of diverse communities.

Our Philosophy
In our office, "multicultural" has a broad definition, including racial and ethnic heritages, religious affiliations, genders (identity and expression), and sexual orientations. We provide diversity programs, services and advocacy for all students, with an emphasis on students from historically under-represented and marginalized groups and communities.

Visit the OMA
The OMA, located in the Union Building Suite 100, is open weekdays from 8:00am to 4:30pm. We can also be reached by phone (765-658-4850) and fax (765-658-4975) or email the OMA director at jjlicon@depauw.edu

Programs & Services
The Office of Multicultural Affairs sponsors a wide range of guest speakers, events and activities using the heritage month model. Every semester we have something new to offer; please call, write or email us for a calendar of events. OMA staff are available to classes and organizations to discuss diversity and help students, faculty, staff and others negotiate issues of difference. We also work closely with DePauw students and the identity/affinity organizations that they create to meet their social and cultural needs. We believe that DePauw’s multicultural student groups, including NPHC and NALFO organizations, serve to strengthen the University’s commitment to building a diverse living and learning community for all students. For the most current list of all recognized DePauw student organizations, including our many identity/affinity groups, see: http://www.depauw.edu/student/orgs/

Advocacy
The staff of the OMA actively welcome students to share their ideas, concerns and their experiences with us, at their convenience. We are accessible in person during office hours, by email and phone. In case of an emergency, please contact DePauw Public Safety immediately at 765-658-4261 or if you are off-campus, call 911. Students who feel that they have been the victims of a hate crime are encouraged to contact DePauw Public Safety immediately at 765-658-4261 to report the incident and seek information about the reporting process. All calls will be held in confidence unless otherwise requested by the complainant or in cases of imminent threat to the safety of a member of the University community.
